I forgot what CVC it was. But I was reading it on the wall when I took my car to the ref. It was a poster showing the updated laws with modified parts. Talked to the ref and he said they just changed it last year about the whole silencer thing, cause people would just come into ref with it on and pass the dB test and take it off later.

As for paying the ref, I believe it was only 20$ in all? Somewhere around there not much, its basically a dB test and smog check if they issued you that too. Then they print out the forms so you can give it to an officer to write off the fix it and proof that you went. The ref also stamps the back of your ticket as well for verification.
Do I have to wait for the ticket in the mail to go to the ref ? Or can I just call and set up an appt and get this over with....

so the main reason for the cop stopping you is because there's no front license plate? and then he got for for the exhaust afterward, or is it the other way around. cause i figured it's hard to spot a no license plate at night, especially if your car has HID. Where is this exactly?

Not that I'm being sarcastic, but I get a little paranoid every time I heard about no front license plate ticket. Make me feel like I should put my plate on.

I was stopped on Alum Rock in East Side San Jose. It was the Chp. I think he gave the ref ticket is because I didnt have the top part of the stock intake on.... He was being a dick to. Seemed like he was a rookie or something. He was a lil nervous lol well maybe cuz I was hella pissed

The cops were nice. If they are dicks they can send you to state ref. And that's where things get bad. But if the state ref you go to the people are cool then they will not care. It depends on who you get there. I had a friend that went there to get his exhaust signed off and they did not because he had a intake on. Everything has to be to spec if u get a a$$hole.

Hope u get nice guys
