Fix it ticket question
I just got a fix it ticket for no front plate and no current proof of registration. The front plate ticket I understand, but I feel that the registration ticket is bullshit. When he asked me for registration I accidentally gave him my expired one, although I had the current one in my car as well. He told me it was expired but that it was okay, then left. A while later he comes back and tells me he's writing me up for no current registration. I go, "officer I have the current one right here". And he goes, "you didn't have it at the time I asked".
My question is, is he allowed to do that? He tells me it's okay, then comes back with a ticket? And when I try to give him the correct one he doesn't take it??
On top of everything, he wrote my friend's name, address, and license number instead of mine on the ticket. What should I do about that?

if its not a sign off type of deal for the registration, fight it by mail or court and all you have to do is show the current registration
*edit*
you can tell if its marked "correctable" by the cvc code
