Bummer. Ask Joey if he's willing to try and patch it. I'll be there on Tues night getting new brakes/stainless lines.

My fronts are completely bald, so I'm going to wait until I can get ahold of a new set of fronts (and likely rears) all at the same time. Not sure if I want to drive across the bay on this micro-doughnut just for a patch, eeeek.

You run the HTRZ-III's as well?

I do about 3-4 hours of mountain runs per week.
So that's about 12-16 hours of mountain runs per month.
Average mileage from new to bald is 5k on my tires.
yea lol. so did justin on his set of rpf1.
that's a lot of driving

So here's my plan of action.
I ordered front and rear Star Specs today.
On Thursday, I will install all four Star Specs (assuming tire rack delivers them by Thursday AM).
America's Tire does free patch/plug, because I am a customer.
I will have them evaluate, and patch if possible, then take the 50% Sumitomos home, and install them after the Star Specs wear out.

Does this sound like a good plan.
Is it ok for a half used tire to sit for 1-2 months before putting it back on, especially if was just plugged before storage?

as long as it's in good storage, i think it's fine. tire rack usually delivers in 1-2 business days. all the tires i've ordered from there, only took 1 day; i wasn't even charged when i received them ahah

I would just plug it yourself. Might want to avoid tripple digits on the patched tyre as well.

Ah yes, delicious new Star Specs. May you have mercy on those tire threads which will surely not last long enough for those crazy mountain runs!
