Umm...could't he just call someone to tell them where he is? IF he had internet, he has phone reception. That would have cut the wait time...

apps don't always require getting online if it's already downloaded into his phone right? and how much power does it use for an alarm? I think we need to get mythbusters in on it!

I agree with many of hte comments... sounds a little BS to me.

Battery wouldn't last that long.
And even the new 3in+ screen on DSLR's aren't flashlight-bright... no way you could find your way around with one.
