Fighting a front license plate ticket?
Hey guys, after a year I finally got a no front license plate ticket.
Looking in the archives, it seems like this has been a fix it ticket in the past, however, it may have changed recently to a fee for not having it. In the archives, people say the ticket was $50, but my ticket was for $100
Yes, $100! That's more than double parking, obstructing an emergency vehicle, parking in front of a fire hydrant etc! This is highway robbery! Is there any way to appeal this or have afix it ticket cover this? Ticketassasin has nothing to cover this type of appeal. Can any of you guys lend some friendly advice? Thanks!

Pay the fine, put a front plate on your car and get on with your life. What's the big deal with putting on a front plate. Is it really worth the hassle and the money to to have the car look just a bit better?

In the state of CALIFORNIA, a "no front plate" ticket is a "fix-it" ticket. You DO NOT have to pay $100 (Frisco is the only place in California that increased all the bullsh!t tickets). Go put your plate on and go to the nearest pig precinct. Ask a pig to sign it off for you. The pig will then check to see if it is indeed on your car. Once the ticket has been signed, bring it to wherever you are supposed to go and pay a processing fee of $10. By the way, for all the people with aftermarket exhausts, if you get a ticket for a loud exhaust it is a "fix-it" ticket as well. I once got a ticket for BOTH a "no front plate" and a loud exhaust; I just had it signed off and that ticket (for both infractions) only costed $10.

Sav, thanks for the advice. Yes, this was in SF and my car was parked on the street outside of my house. (I guess the cops had nothing better to do at the time)
So is there any legal statute or anything I can cite to say its a fix it ticket? I have no problem in putting the plate on and getting it signed off, but 100 dollars is way too much for a stupid ticket!
p.s. Sav- I think I met you in traffic on geary a couple weekends ago- I asked you about your injen intake. Anyways, thanks for the help!

What's a front plate? I measn my car was over two years old before I put the Back plate on...sheesh.
Seriously though, $100 seems stiff, I'd check to see if you can still get that signed off. i am sure an officer in another jurisdiction will be happy to do so. But if I lived in SF, I think I'd keep my front plate on just to avoid the hassle...but for now, my car avoids the City AND it stays frontplateless.

Hey Slick, if you're not too attached to you existing plates, you can always tell them that your front plate was stolen... then they will likely tell you to go get new plates and possibly waive your existing ticket (or at least drop it down to a fix-it). Then go to the DMV and pay $15 (I believe that's the cost) for new plates.
Now that I write it out, it sounds like too much of a hassle. But hey, that's what my friend did once here in LA.
