Btw, www.onlinetires.com sells these for about $100 each in 17 inch... 225/45/17

That's cheap but too bad the customer service is super shitty.
Which tires?
- Star Spec = onlinetires doesnt sell them
- Federal 595 RSR = (is that what you are referring to?)

I don't see the point in needing customer service from an online tire depot. I did all my own research, confirmed they had they in stock (not backorder), and they were at my door in three days.
Nah the starspecs are a tire rack exclusive unfortunately.

I meant the Federals. Oh and when say customer service I mean the people that work there in general. They will process your order but it takes forever to get the goods, It seems as if you have to harrass them EVERYTIME for them to get sent out. If you leave it up to them expect a 2-3 week wait.

The prices somewhat make up for the trouble but I go through this everytime I order through them. On G35driver.com there is a whole thread about they're business practices haha but truth be told they aren't out to rip you off because they always come through.

I had no problems with customer service. I made them promise they had a stock (and they said they had 100s of tires, the Federal 595 RSR). I ordered through the phone, and tires shipped/delivered in three days. They used some weird shipping company called "expedited shipping". All in all, it was 10/10 customer service/shipping, etc as far as my opinion goes. I have heard bad stories though.

Oh nice.. Maybe placing the order over the phone would be a better idea then.

These tires are priced so well I wouldn't mind going through a few sets a year over buying starspecs. Don't get me wrong I like the starspecs, they are a great tire but I'd like to get my hands on something different next time around.

An issue i'm having is getting the NT05's in the size I want. I can find the 255's all day but they don't have the 225's I need up front. I don't think I'll clear 235's well either.

Any reason not to get 215s up front. I'm running them and they've felt the best. I'm all OEM suspension and wheels though.

I love the star specs, but really wanted to try a more cost effective tire for at least one set. We'll see how they compare.

I like the feel of it right now. I'm on 17x7.5 up front and 17x8.5 in the rear (if I remember right might be an inch more per rim in width lol) and it tamed the rear of the car dramatically. If I go 215 up front I'll get the stretched look and it will make the rear end feel a bit happier or so I think.

Whats your stagger in terms of the 215/255 rubric?

Nitto doesn't make their NT05 in a 225/45/17 or a 215/45/17 so thats probably why you're having trouble finding them. On the plus side, for you anyways, the nt05s run very narrow for their size so a 235/40/17 will be more likely to clear.

Wider tires up front will make the rear happier not narrow ones. 215 F 255 R you should definitely be looking at a bit more understeer that 225 F 255 R but I am sure the difference is pretty minimal.

Given I already rubbed on our last drive a bit since it was pretty rough I probably won't chance it. Especially if what he said is right and it will make the rear end even more happy.

Well I guess that would explain why the wheels came with 215 up front. He had these on a 350z I believe when I bought them but I didn't get too much into detail with the guy on tires etc.

Hankook, Federal's, or Dunlops it is then..
