faster times @ speedring?
#21
Hi. just want to say that I went back to Speedring Thurs night, and finally got a 32.5. Sliding the tail around the corner really works!
Thanks for all the tips. It was a very motivating experience, and I'll definitely keep going until I break the 31 second barrier.

I was fortunate enough to race against Randy Pobst there last year (McKenna Porsche pilot) and I did consistent 31s (following his lines helped)...the best being 31.391. Pirro was there the same day and broke into the high 29s if I remember correctly--at the time (9/5/02) the lap record was a 29.6. They all slid the cars around, but only on certain corners and they were very small slides.
The thing that helped lower the laptimes the most was not having any traffic in front.
I also had a spectacular crash there that almost put me in the hospital. I was on the front straight when a much slower driver cut from the very right side to the very left--right into me. Instead of bouncing off the barrier on the left, I got sucked under it and slammed into the metal pole right in front of the windows. The force of the impact against my legs and arms bent the steering wheel in half. Watch out for those fools that should stick to Malibu!
