Default Extended Top Hats

Hi guys,

I recently lowered my DD integra and need to extend the top hats. Would anyone know how to weld here or know a shop that will do it cheap?

I asked a muffler shop and they turn me away because its part of the suspension..

Thanks

maybe GC for new top hats vs welding up your old ones, I think they're fairly cheap.

Cheap isn't what I would be looking for when dealing with a part of my suspension

You want to extend it for greater suspension travel? If so then yes the GC tophats are the way to go. I have them on my S and they are probably a bit of overkill for me.

I would love to get the Ground control ones but after seeing that it could be done for a fraction of the price, I'm a bit hesitant.

here's a link

I think if your top hats are anything like ours then there's not much to gain unless the shock body fits inside the top hat.
Putting the bumpstop inside the top hat isn't the answer.

If the shock shaft is bottoming out internally then that will help but I can't imagine that's the case. You'd destroy the shock the first time it bottomed out.

You can also run smaller harder bumpstops.

By looking at the picture you linked up, getting smaller bumpstops is the answer.

PSI has lots of different size bumpstops as well as RE Suspension

If you want more travel than the bumpstop can offer then you're looking at shorter shock bodies to gain travel.

I'm not doing this to gain travel. I'm currently not bottoming out, even in bumpy roads. I'm doing it more so "shock to travel in their optimal range is by changing the resting point of the shock body in relation to the damper shaft." There's a pictures that illustrate this in the link i posted..

I was thinking on doing this on the rear shocks of the s2k to extended life of the shocks..it will also make it easier to adjust the konis in the rear.

thanks for the input though!=)

Unless it's some weird sensitrac shock then it doesn't matter. There's an ideal location on droop limited dampers but from what you're telling me yours isn't droop limited. As long as the piston isn't at the very top of the stroke then it's fine. The difference of 2" at most will do almost nothing for internal pressure, I would save your time and hassle.

If you do decide to do it let us know how it went and where you got it done at.

Mac
