Asking for someones time and materials(car) and not compensating them at all is not the way business should be done. At the least they can give "this" person a discount. They still don't lose money with a discount. But what do I know...

Curious how the exhaust was designed when they don't have an s2000 on hand in the first place? Is it still in development or something? Did I miss something?

can you give us more info, incl.

incentive offered to test fit

how long do you need the vehicle? (just for fitting or dyno/road testing too?)

exhaust details (single, dual, cat back, full, stainless, etc)

i have an gpw 06 ap2 that is near stock appearing and a k&n intake. it is lowered w/an oem front lip & aftermarket wheels, but i can reinstall my stock wheels & intake, if desired.
It's going to be offered in a single and dual set up. Stainless in multiple configuration, cat back with hf or test pipe. The test fitting probably won't take more than a day. As far as incentive there really isn't really an but you'll get the see the test fitting and hear one of the best exhaust for the s2k in my opinion, if you prefer quiet exhausts that make power as well. Unfortunately we're looking for something completely stock not lowered.
thanks for the info. most of the solicitations i've seen from vendors & manufacturers to use cars for development &/or test fitting usually offer the owner the test item free of charge, or at least heavily discounted, esp if photos are being taken from promotional purposes. good luck with your search and product though.

And most of those products are made in china which are no good in the first place. But the person testing the product will give a good review because he got that stuff for free. This is why I don't even bother with this community.

Vortech, GReddy, B&M, & numerous vendors & manufacturers have asked via various online forums i've participated over the years for cars to. develop & test their products. They've all taken care of their donors in some fashion. Their products seem pretty well received and are not made in China.

Not unfathomable that someone might be willing to lend their vehicle as a test & marketing mule, but i'd rethink your PR strategy. Backhanded comments are hardly an effective way of garnering interest in your company or products.

Have you ever thought that I don't work for or own the company that makes or the distributor that sells the exhaust? I am not getting any compensation for lending my time and car to get this product out. The only reason why this product exists at all is because i have been on this forum for years and keep hearing "my exhaust is too loud" or "its not making power." so through experiencing the manufactures product first hand i thought that i could help out and bring a better product to s2ki's attention and prove that you can make power while having an exhaust below or around 93db (laguna seca's limit because i requested and want the norcal s2ki members to enjoy their damn track day without getting flagged). The reason why this product was not available when the s2000 was first launched is because the manufacturer of the product thought it would not be well received due to the "jdm" products that you guys buy.

The exhaust was designed in the factory in Europe and they used an ap2. Like stated above they never wanted to make an exhaust for the s2000 in the first place but i thought hey maybe the s2000 guys would like this because it's a better product without all the marketing bs to get you to buy it. The car is wanted because i would like opinions of other s2k "enthusiasts." I have put out my time and resources just to get this far and like i said above i am not getting any compensation but knowing this would be on the market.

I would use my own car but i have an ap1 and mod with suspension and the factory only sent the ap2 tips so far. We would like to have as stock as possible so no factors would skew the numbers if there will be a dyno unlike numbers provide by other dealers which use modified or different cars to get their "higher" number.

Yes i just remembered it was 92db. The testing grounds for the manufacture in the uk is oulton park the area has many trees so it might resonate a little more. I think the dual will pass laguna for sure. I really want to see how loud the single is because i was told it was boarder lined and i will be getting a single myself. I do not have permission to post in depth info but once i get the green light i can.

it's nice that you took the initiative to help get the exhaust produced, but as the one soliciting members on an open forum, you ARE representing the company. whatever you say reflects upon THEM and YOU. and any business that's been around long enough should be able to recognize the value of compensating individuals offering up their cars for research, development, & promotion. no one is looking for a handout. it's not only smart bu$ine$$, but common courtesy as well.

as for "us guys" that just buy "jdm" products. that certainly is not me. i buy whatever functions & is built well. that could be from billy joe bob's backyard garage, jdm land, China, Timbuktu, etc. there are markets and buyers for quality products, plain & simple. PR & marketing do help to push products, but not everyone is a jdm fanboy or lemming.

As much hate as this poor guy is going to get on this forum, he's still going to find a generous person to help with the favor requested. The possible compensation to the community as a whole is the development of a new part for our cars.

The ironic thing is that all the negative reactive bandwagon posts in a thread like this also represent the community in a negative way. So we are back to another post where I must say that we probably have the pot calling the kettle black.

How about somebody with a stock car help this pioneer out. Not all companies are siting around with huge cash flows, especially those trying to break into a new market.

Stock AP2 is easy - I have one but like someone else said, time is money and I certainly don't have free time to burn for nothing in return.

But can't be that hard to find a stock s2000...hahah ~ this is the Bay Area
