Anything after the cat is fair game in CA. The only thing you have to worry about is noise ordinances, and it isn't going to be that much louder then stock so don't worry about it.

You are just removing a small in line muffler, so don't expect much. But for around $40 it's worth a try.

Whereever you go, make sure they weld with stainless wire and put in a stainless pipe. no need to end up with dissimilar metal corrosion.

Check this out in Walnut Creek. This muffler shop looks old and run down, but it's been in the same location with it's owner for the last forty years. The owner has done high performance and custom exhaust systems for years along with the factory stock replacement stuff for all domestic and foreign cars/trucks. I've had work done at this shop on my truck in the past and have been real happy with the exhaust system repairs and cost. I have other friends that use this shop and no one has had any problems over the last ten years.

Thanks, that's right down the street from me! Maybe I will head out there tomorrow morning. If anyone else is interested in hearing it first hand just let me know. There is a sound clip in S2K talk if you look around a bit. Thing is, I have never thought that sound clips do any exhaust work justice.

I will also be out at the Auto-X in Stockton next weekend if anyone else wants to go.

I have this on my MY02, in truth not that much difference, but noticeable.

The shop won't need to bend any pipes because it is a straight section there.

Mine also wasn't stainless welds or stainless pipe, didn't care since no one will see it unless he/she is under the car.

Ok I talk to my friend this morning, and he said he is more than welcome to take our S2K in. He said, if we can 5 or more guys/girl to sign up for resonator jobs, he can do $45 a person. Let me know if you guys are still interested. If your also interested in doing some custom piping or other exhaust work let me know. Thanks guys!

No, I was unfortunately too hung over from Friday night to get anything done on Saturday...

I will let you know when I get it done, but it may not be for a while.
