A suspected drunken driver was arrested early Monday after he drove the wrong way past Oakland police headquarters and sideswiped several patrol cars before rear-ending a parked car, police said.

Police say the incident happened about 2:45 a.m. when Jimmie Foster, 30, of Oakland drove a Honda east on Sixth Street - the wrong way on a one-way street - between Washington Street and Broadway, behind the Oakland Police Administration Building.

The Honda bounced off several parked police cruisers. Officers chased it west on Seventh Street - again, the wrong way on the one-way street - before it crashed into a Pontiac Vibe parked near Jefferson Street.

Police arrested Foster on suspicion of drunken driving and vandalism.
