Engine oil does not give any HP gains (if you meant this performance)
It mainly protects engine internals from the heats and frictions.
When it comes to Motorsports, those cars, motorcycles, cart, etc. need to finish the race and they will require oils that can last long while they rev really high. Those expensive oils are targeting those and feedback from those technology.
IMO, As long as you change your oil every 3,000 miles, it really doesn't matter what kind of oil you use (for daily driving).
