I haven't done much reading or research on which brands and/or type are good. I would want to put something in that would be helpful should I go to sell it down the road. Racing seats? Or what?

Authentic seats are $800 for 1 seat but then you have to buy rails. But long term, go OEM. I've seen oem seats from $500 to $1000 used

Not if you have newer model S. lesser the value of car, more possibility to be considered as a total loss

Your insurance will pay around 3000 a seat. I suggest you to buy authentic seat and still have money in pocket. I don't recommend replica especially when you already have the money. You can easily get a decent nice seat w rails for 1200 per seat. Don't be cheap and get 400 replica ones

you might as well put some extra cash in your pocket and upgrade your security as well.

Go look at C/L, I saw 5 sets of seats for the S on there. You might get lucky and find yours on there in a week or two.
