The problem is something has to give.

Cheap
Sticky
Long lasting

Pick two.
Im picking

Long Lasting
Sticky

I am willing to spend $4-500 if they will last longer than 15k miles.

On a side note anyone got any hookups with mount and balance? I currently bring my car to The Shop in San Bruno. I think they charge 20 per tire.

Its starting to rain again =/ need to get rears soon. Thanks again guys. LoL sorry to the OP if i kind of hijacked the thread.

Went for a drive Monday through the mountains to test some new ECU settings and found my Star Specs to be very controllable in the wet and through leaves and debris. Loss of traction seems to be pretty gradual in these conditions, and power-oversteer was fairly easy to manage.

Star specs are awesome in the rain, very safe and predictable.

I just rain them in the rain, super sticky!!! Much more safe then my Falken Azenis RT-615. Those are terrible on wet roads and unsafe.

I'm about to install new Star Specs for the rear on my 07. The first set has lasted 30K miles and are just about to hit the wear bars. Great tires at a relatively affordable price. So far these are the longest wearing "extreme" tires I've ever owned. They are great in the rain too.

They can be a bit noisy especially when worn down to the wear bars but I just put the top down, turn up the volume on the radio, and apply pressure with my right foot.

Hows the Sumi HTRzIII compare to the Star Specs? I was considering picking the Sumi up for the price. That way I can get all 4 tires change =].

The RT-615 were the worst tire I've ever driven on in the rain. My R's are better.

So not to beat a dead horse so to speak but I just thought I'd post up my first impressions of the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs here in the Bay Area weather. As you all probably know we had some great rain last night so today I was able to go out and test them out. They are fantastic! Grippy even still in the wet even at VTEC. Dry traction was awesome, car felt like launch was much better than the S-02's and cornering speeds were a bit better as well. Steering response is excellent and the road noise is a bit higher but nothing to complain about. So far I like these quite a bit. I haven't experienced the 050A PP's so I can't compare them yet. I know Tire Rack gave them an excellent rating. So far though I love them on my AP1. Especially for $636 mounted warrantied and shipped and old tires disposed. =)
Thanks for the review Nate! Can anyone compare/contrast these with the REO50A PP's who have owned both on the AP1? That's what I thought I'd be buying when the time comes but might have to lean towards the Star Specs now.

Wow and I thought 20K was a feat.
