I don't mind paying for a good set but I don't want then to only last like 10k miles and have to change it out. Thanks for the opinions so far. A pair of star spec will run me around 450ish with mount and balance.

What would last longer than the star spec that have similar performances. Trying to save some money since budget is tight but don't want to the cheap tire route.
So you want a top performing, longer lasting, cheap tire. Don't we all.

I have the Ventus V12 evo's and they're decent. I'm coming from RE-070's, so there's no comparison in grip... but for the money, I can't complain. Wet traction at slow speeds is terrible, I was fish tailing more in these at slow speeds in the wet, than my 070's fwiw... dunno about high speeds.

I am in need of good rear too. I am running star specs too but I think it may be overkill since I do t really track it or push it through hard turns often. HTR ZIII - best all-around and a great value

I got 20K out of my Star Specs on the rear, though I did start to see the cords. I'd say you can get 15K out of them fairly easily if your car is a DD.

My fronts still have plenty of tread left.

I got 10K out of mine. 4-5 autox and some drives. I was surprised how quickly they were gone

Yeah I would think 15k is what u get with the star specs. I was looking for something around 30k, but if the performance drops drastically from the star spec to a more longer lasting tire then I would just rather eat it and rebuy the tires. Don't want to fish tail and die on the freeway. Maybe I'll just give Jim at tirerack a holler.

damn dude where'd you get tires for that price!? My star specs were quoted at 850 for mount balance etc. and with a discount through my shop I was able to get them for $636 mounted balanced etc. $450 would be rockstar~!!!

The problem is something has to give.

Cheap
Sticky
Long lasting

Pick two.
