Definitely get a laywer. The odds are that his fine and sentence will be reduced, but it will stay on record. Don't drink and drive =( I have many loved ones that can get hurt!

Sorry to hear. The courts take DUI's very serious. He's looking at $1,000+ fine. Pretty sure the car was impounded on the spot (if not he's lucky) and suspended for a year with driving to work privileges only. Not to mention his insurance sky-rocketing. As for a lawyer, there's not much a lawyer can do with a DUI charge. I would suggest he just man up to the judge and hopefully the fine will be reduced.

his options are obey the court's orders or spend time in jail. This is a nice reminder to all folks here not to drink and drive. Even ONE drink is too much.
