Default Driving to SoCal and i hate rock chips!

Driving down to LA next weekend and it my first time taking my S down to SoCal. What freeway would you guys recommend 5 or 101 to avoid nasty rock chips?

I've never used blue tape before just wondering does it really help? or just invest in geting one of those clear covers?

I drive the 5 and I stay back from cars. Never get close to trucks and you'll be fine.

I used to drive my black DC2 on the i5 and would come home with tons of rock chips.

Don't know how you guys drive. I've made that drive many times and other long distance all freeway chips.

No noticeable stone chips. I do however stay further back from other cars (based on how I see others drive).

Just sold the 00 TL with 140K on it and the bumper/hood looked mint.

I can tell you from experience that the paint on the S2000 is WAY softer than the paint Honda puts on some of their other cars. My Accord seems bullet-proof in comparison. It has maybe two chips after 120,000 miles, compared to a minefield on my 25,000 mile S. The slightest little thing will scratch the S.

You really think they're using 'softer' paint on the S?

Anyway, that's my recommendation. I didn't get any chips from our skaggs drive while others did. I did have some off my windsheild though. Which I'm more upset about. So I don't know what to tell you. Maybe I'm further back and the trajectory puts it on the window not the bumper?

But yeah, if $500 is not a big deal a clear bra is cool. I don't have one and won't likely get it.

Blue tape does help some and keeping your distance will go a long way to avoiding rocks all together.

I already have a 3 to 4 small rock chips on my my bumper and i was really pissed, so ill just wait on the clear cover untill i get my front touched up.

What would you mainly tape up?
-Half of the hood
-mirrors
do you tape up the whole front bumper?
