Default DIY: Differential Mount Collars

Hi guys.
This is a DIY for differential mount collars especially for those budget track junkies.
Thought it would be nice to share with the rest of you.
(Do at your own risk, I take no responsibility)

What: This helps with less movement of the differential due to age and wear on the mounts.
Why: Found one differential mount was starting to tear
How: Was talking to Edwin the other day and he brought up this clever idea of covering the mount with Polyurethane. What this does is it acts as a stiffer mount due to the polyurethane aiding with the mount making it stronger but without the high end cost. According to Edwin, this is an old-school trick within the budget.

Let's get to it. (takes under 30 minutes)

What you need:

-A tube of: Loctitie Polyurethane Construction Adhensive (PL Premium Advanced, 60A) or (3M Window Weld, 65A) = $7
-A caulk gun
-A knife or a scraper (to smooth the surface)
-The 4 differential mounts

1) Wash your mounts free of dirt and oil/grease.

2) Cut tip and break seal on tube, insert into caulk gun.

3) Apply polyurethane in all holes of the mounts

4) Make it look pretty

Give it a day to dry but if it was me, I would let me sit for a week before installing them.

Have fun!
Will report back soon with results.

So you took them out and didn't replace anything? You're just masking the problem.

I could see the potential for this in conjunction with the collars to give the compound supporting surface area for resistance & flex; however my concern would be what would happen once the OEM mount ruptures - where/what would happen to the fluid?

You drain the fluid in the mounts and fill this polyurethane inside.
Maybe I wasn't clear in my DIY.
