It's been a while since the last drive. I guess some of you are already itching for another one. So here are possible date/route combos. Let people know your preference, then we can

Date: Feb 9th (Sat) 10am
Meeting Point:
sylvainsf's home
5212 Carriage Dr.
El Sobrante, CA 94803
510-222-5434

Route:
To be decided by sylvainsf

Lunch:
BBQ at sylvainsf's backyard
RSVP by PM sylvainsf before Feb 7th
$10/person

Volunteers:
Spirited Group Lead: sylvainsf
Spirited Group Chase: ???
Cruise Group Lead: Ina
Cruise Group Chase: ???
Prep Talk Guy: ???

In the light of the recent group drive liability issue discussion, I will try the following things to improve our drive:

1. Have everyone including passengers sign a claim waiver. This should protect any of us from suing each other. [well, 3rd party can still sue us though. I will try to write up/find one. If I can't find one for the next drive, then we don't need it.]
2. Divided into 2 groups: "spirited" group for expert drivers, "cruise" group for novices. [Can have more groups if we can find enough drivers to do lead/chase]
3. Have a lead car and a chase car in each group. Each pair of them has a pair of two-way radios.
4. Had a brief talk before each drive to warn people about the potential hazards.

check this thread for more info about group drive liability issues:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...3515#post493515

So now we need volunteers to run the two lead cars, the two chase cars and give a prep talk. Any volunteers?

Hope we can pull the next one out together!

actually, Mt Diablo is east of walnut creek, Mt. Tamalpias is in marin county.. neither would make for a good drive on the weekend as there are tons of cyclists on the roads of both. The Moraga way sounds interesting, but I know some better roads in the area for a nice drive. I'd be willing to host the meeting spot (perhaps a BBQ before or after?) and lead the drive. Hope you all can keep up with my little 323 .

Oops.. made a mistake..
Ok fixed it now.

Sylvain, you are welcome to run your 323 GTX. So you want to lead the cruise group or the spirited group?

Usually we start driving at 10am and then have lunch after the drive. I don't know how to do BBQ after lunch though...

I'd like to lead the spirited group, since it's my back yard, I think I can set a good pace. I can design a course which is a nice big loop around the east bay hills, starting and ending at my house.

Sylvain, are you going to plan a tech day before/after the group drive?

Cool. I put you at the spirited group lead already. Feel free to design route also.

More volunteers?

If we set the drive for the 16th, I will host a tech day on the 9th.
