A different S2000 cluster?
Well I've been looking for a used S2000 a lot more lately since the weather is getting better here in the Bay Area. I'm pretty motivated to buy. Anyhow, my fiance and I went to Central Automobiles and they had a 2001 S w/ 56k miles (or so) and they were asking for $17998. The condition of the car was not even near mint or new condition (which I don't expect in a 50k+ mile car), but there were scratches in the front, back, and side panels. To top it off, the convertible top needed to be replaced because the lack of the last owner not parking it inside a garage.
Anyhow, when I asked the sales guy to turn the engine on, I noticed that the electronic speedometer showed the speed in KMH instead MPH. I asked whether this is a CA registered car and he said I don't know and it will be once someone buys it. Anyhow, the salesman said you can switch it back and forth from mph to kmp with a button. I asked where the buttons at and he didn't know? Anyone know if this is true or not. I don't own a S2000 but I have done extensive research and have never read this feature?
I'm thinking this is a Canadian registered car. I've been to Canada and I know they use KMH instead MPH.
Any input will help.

yes, the button is on the dash.
also, I wouldn't buy that car. if they were so abusive to it's exterior, god only knows how poorly they maintainted that motor.

My fiance and I found it funny when I asked whether it was registered in CA and he said it will be when the new owner buys it. That just didn't make any sense. And I'm not even going to consider this car since there damage is estimated to be about $3000. Basically the new car will need a new paint job and new top. Tires are pretty bald too. I asked the sales guy if its negotiable and he said its pretty much factory price. I told him realistically speaking, you probably won't sell it for what your asking for...not even $16000.
Thanks for all your input. Something new I learned today. Hopefully I get a S soon...before summer time.
