ok..surgery 101....a foley catheter[ or "foley" ] is a latex tube that is passed thru one's penis up into the bladder to allow for urine drainage during procedures.....26 french is a medical measurement that represents the circumference of a deformable tube....so 26 french= approx .341 inches.....pretty close to 3/8 in dia. .....if you are in an er the worst thing you can hear is"i need a foley over here"...
