When I was in college I studied electrical engineering with a specialty in communications (not the speaking kind). I studied transmitters and receivers a LOT and radar is one of the form that I have worked with. I just asked the officer to prove the radio wave the radar gun measured bounced off my car and not something else in the environment (metal signs, green trees, another car, reflector in the road). I have gone as far at to find the spread pattern of the radar antenna in the radar gun that was used and calculate at the distance we were how many things were affecting the readings the radar gun was showing. So far a judge has yet to convict me when radar was the only tool used to get my speed :-)

+20 over the posted speed limit is reckless driving which = to 2 points, impound of your car, the officer CAN arrest you, and you can be charged with attempted manslaughter (this is for people who are racing on the freeway and weaving in and out of cars).
This is what my dad told me, he's a cop for SFPD

my friend actually got pulled driving at 105 or so, i think he is going to court in january, from what i hear it's a huge fine+license suspension+maybe something else.
i think he was lucky because he wasn't jailed nor was his car impounded.

Mine was $380 for 130mph on S101 in San Mateo county. Did you go in person to get the fine reduced?
