When I was in college I studied electrical engineering with a specialty in communications (not the speaking kind). I studied transmitters and receivers a LOT and radar is one of the form that I have worked with. I just asked the officer to prove the radio wave the radar gun measured bounced off my car and not something else in the environment (metal signs, green trees, another car, reflector in the road). I have gone as far at to find the spread pattern of the radar antenna in the radar gun that was used and calculate at the distance we were how many things were affecting the readings the radar gun was showing. So far a judge has yet to convict me when radar was the only tool used to get my speed :-)
