Custom Tailored Wing/Car Cover
EDIT: the OEM car cover was DONATED by the coolest and most generous s2ki member on earth, none other than the wonderful Jeremy (jerzs2k). Just wanted to give you the credit you deserve for making this project possible!!
For few months I've been irked by the fact that the OEM car cover won't fit with the APR wing. The original solution was to construct a heavy fleece wing cover that would protect the carbon fiber from the elements, but this proved to be not enough, leaving the rear end of the car awkwardly covered. Finally with the help of Paul (l8apex01) and Arlene (tougehorsewoman) a true project was developed...snipping the OEM car cover and then tailoring it back together. Paul assisted with the precisely measured cuts of the cover, then Arlene took charge with the needle and thread.
The result is a one-of-a-kind custom tailored OEM car cover, with all cuts re-stitched and fleece added for structural support of the fabric. Large buttons were sewn in for ease of removal.
Low on the list of priorities when considering buying a wing is whether or not your car cover will fit over it...
We began with a simple fleece wing cover. This included buttons for general attachment, and some heavy duty binder clips for the final cinch.
Then came that fateful night when scissors were taken to the OEM car cover!
With the goal being as close to this as possible, with reinforcements:
Fleece reinforcements stitched in to prevent runs in the fabric at the wing stands:
It will never be perfect, but this is pretty close! All buttoned up with fleece reinforcements!
Might tighten up the bottom a bit, but with all things considered, its a job we are happy with!
Now we can ride off into the sunset knowing the entire car will always be clean and ready for the next drive.
(A little snap I took after the rain stopped yesterday)

Like anything though once you perfect the prototype and have that blueprint you own the golden ticket. I actually was looking for something like this on Science of Speed when I first put my wing on. I ended up just using a larger generic cover though and eventually tore edges where my end plates are. Now my car is in an underground garage so I said forget it but had I stayed where I was I would definitely consider something like this.

Trust me fellas if other professional obligations weren't weighing heavily on me at present, I would be all over turning this into a legit product! For now it will exist as a prototype.
If anyone has an apr gtc-300 and is interested in making a cover for it, feel free to pm me and we can discuss dimensions for the wing only cover. It's quite simply an oversized rectangle with several strategically placed buttons and a pair of binder clips.
The car cover isn't as much of an exact science as it is an experiment. It's really tough to measure given the contours.
