I use ELF 5w-40, i used redline on my dc5 before and didn't really like it, felt like my car was running more rough, i use to use mobil 1 for my S then switched to the elf and haven't burned any oil since

thats my experience with elf also. i've been using mobil1 and german castrol in my audi and i had to add in between oil changes. with elf, im at 3k miles and still clean and full.... didnt break down at all.

too bad elf is discontinued and changed to TOTAL which is good oil also.... i will try it when im done with my Elf supply, i think i still have (4) 5 liter jugs.

Color of the oil has no bearing on the effectiveness or condition of the oil, just how much gunk you motors is depositing in it. Take for example my car. 10 miles after doing an oil change, it looks like crap because I had so much blow by.

the color of the oil changes when the viscosity breaks down.

While that is very possible, generally the color change you see in the oil is a result of the suspended contaminants in the oil, not the actually breakdown of the oil itself. Maybe its a little different with boosted motors since they see higher oil temps.

well yeah its true, coz after oil change in the s2k then after the first start, of course it's not clean.

im just trying ro compare the mobil1 and elf in my audi .... it seems like it burns more mobil1 than elf.... mobil1 breaks down quickly.

that is what these oil manufacturers are doing to their mixtures, they add all these additives to prevent early breakdown. AMSoil has a 35k miles oil change interval on "normal" driving.

I would take Elf over Mobil 1. I personally believe if you go with any of the top tier synthetics (Redline/Amsoil/Elf/Eneos...), you're golden.
haha those oils on you list, i have those in bulk on my shelf in the garage hehe.

i just believe that good oil, contant maintenance will give you a long lasting healthy engines.

redline/amsoil for the s2k, elf for audi, eneos for truck but i paid stupid $$ for the merc to get it done at the stealership because of the stupid process they had to do, one day ill figure out where to get those suction mashine haha
