Cracked Windshield - Need Advice
I thought the day would never come, but it has. I have a crack growing in the windshield. Right now, it's about 8in long, but it's probably going to get worse. I know this is a long-shot, but is this covered under the manufacturer's warranty? If not, does anyone know how much it is to get this taken care of? Should I bother with going through insurance to take care of the cost?
Thanks,
Richard

Insurance most times will fix it as a no deductable item...i.e. they want to repair it while they can to save from having to replace it later....if it's too big you may be too late, they may have to replace it...which is usually subject to a deductable....repairs often times are not.
For everone else....if a crack appears take it in to your insurance right away...they should fix it no charge...if you let it wait and gets too big you have to replace it.
As per warrenty I'd say 99% this is caused by something hitting the windshield...very little chance of getting covered under warrenty(but hey you can always try )

According to my insurance agent, if the crack or chip is smaller than a half dollar the insurance company will pay to fix it. If the crack or chip is larger than a half dollar, the windshield must be replaced. Replacement means you cover the deductable. My bid for a new windshield is $416.75. The car cannot be driven for 6 hours after the procedure. Don't know if I want to leave my S at the glass shop that long.

I have Cracked my windsheld 4 months ago, right now, it looks like a "L", should be around 20 inchs, pretty long
I'v asked an auto glass shop, they quote me $343 installed, that's totally BS, because I just changed one for 00 Camry for less than $150 installed, same shop........why da hell our parts always expensive than most other Japanese cars, even the windsheld is smaller.......
