possible hahaha.... 175 is topspeed, thats at 9k rpm on 6th. i did 150 at around 8400 rpm and its too loud with softop i did 140 topdown prior to that then pulled over to close the top and tried again.

this was on some open freeway at 2pm, while cops are taking a nap somewhere under an overpass.

Sorry you got shafted.

I haven't hit 130+ yet, but not that far off.

if you are after the thrill, there are legal ways: I suggest buying a Yugo and try go 60mph. You will get the same sensation...
I know what you mean. Never driven a Yugo, but its freaken scary to take my mom's car that she never drives up to freeways speeds. Last week, when my sister hit 45 in that car, the tire shredded.

My dad got caught doing 145mph in his Mitsu 3000gt...he got the car impounded for 30 days, 500 hours of community service and an all expenses paid weekend vacation in the county lock up. BTW he got caught on HWY 5 so all this punishment took place in Firebaugh county 3 hrs away from here...sweet huh? I forgot how much he had to pay though...I guess he shouldn't have argued with the judge!

ALL of that is @ discretion. The point count, the impoundage, probable cause arrest, and the appearance is up to the citing officer.

License suspension, fine, imprisonment is up to the magistrate. The DMV may also suspend your license, after the court sends the DMV notification of +2 points if carried.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/vioptct.htm

If you are written up for a violation of CVC 22348b, (like I was, 138 in a 65) you automatically get two points. the impound/arrest/etc is up to the officer. (I didn't get my car impounded.)

the court will access a fine and more than likely, a license suspension (mine was 30 days). The fine was something like $1500, I forget.

It all depends on the cop. He could very well write you for reckless, but that's a misdemeanor and a lot more paperwork, etc.

For those that got caught, did you not have a radar detector or were you caught via airplanes that monitor speed?

^ Hwy 5 is monitored by both and in my father's case he argued with the cop during the citation and called him a racist so you could imagine what the officer was thinking
