just to add.... if you are going that fast and the cop thinks you're racing, you can almost expect all your fines 'n such to be even higher. In SanDiego Co, it's said that there is zero tolerance, your car gets impounded for min. 30 days IF they don't crunch your car. And someone help you if you've got non-carb legal mods....

If cited, MOST of the time it will be CVC 22348(b), exceeding 100mph which is an infraction and carries a fine. Unless the citing officer and the DA REALLY want to throw the book at you for some reason.

The vehicle MAY be impounded for a period of time. If it is registered under someone elses's name, it is released much easier and quicker.

It MAY cost you thousands, depending on the base fine. Many counties have something called a "Penalty Assessment" added to fines. For example, CVC 22348(b) carries a max fine of $500. Kern County, for example, carries a 240% Penalty Assessment. This means in addition to your $500 max fine, you must pay an ADDITIONAL penalty assessment of $1200. All of a sudden, your $500 fine just turned into $1700, not including other administrative fees, etc which I think come out to an addition +$31.

Kern Co. stretch of Interstate 5 is where a lot of people get caught speeding between LA and Bay Area. Kern Co. covers MANY cities, including Wasco, Bakersfield, Shafter, Maricopa, Taft, etc. TONS of people get caught doing 100+ there and Kern Co. CHP officers LOVE it.
Got one in Kern/Shafter county in a construction zone... two points and suspended license for 30 days... fine was $1680...
