Default Consequences of 130+ MPH? If Caught

Are there anyone with personal experience or had any friends who got caught while doing over 130+ MPH. If so, can you share some of the consequences of getting caught with excessive speed?

Had a rare chance of taking my S2K to around 140 MPH, wandering what would happen if get caught?

yeah you get two points. Car gets impounded. you must appear in court where you license will get suspended. and you get one monster of a ticket. If the judge is really peaved you may get some community service as well.

btw, forgot to mention that caught at that speed you will get arrested.

I got a ticket for 110 in a 45 back in 2003 and they let me go but with a nice ticket. I was so lucky that night. The next month I did appear in court and I had to pay $375 and I got 2 points for that, no traffic school allow.

ALL of that is @ discretion. The point count, the impoundage, probable cause arrest, and the appearance is up to the citing officer.

License suspension, fine, imprisonment is up to the magistrate. The DMV may also suspend your license, after the court sends the DMV notification of +2 points if carried.

If cited, MOST of the time it will be CVC 22348(b), exceeding 100mph which is an infraction and carries a fine. Unless the citing officer and the DA REALLY want to throw the book at you for some reason.

The vehicle MAY be impounded for a period of time. If it is registered under someone elses's name, it is released much easier and quicker.

It MAY cost you thousands, depending on the base fine. Many counties have something called a "Penalty Assessment" added to fines. For example, CVC 22348(b) carries a max fine of $500. Kern County, for example, carries a 240% Penalty Assessment. This means in addition to your $500 max fine, you must pay an ADDITIONAL penalty assessment of $1200. All of a sudden, your $500 fine just turned into $1700, not including other administrative fees, etc which I think come out to an addition +$31.

Kern Co. stretch of Interstate 5 is where a lot of people get caught speeding between LA and Bay Area. Kern Co. covers MANY cities, including Wasco, Bakersfield, Shafter, Maricopa, Taft, etc. TONS of people get caught doing 100+ there and Kern Co. CHP officers LOVE it.

let me look back at my files, right here under I, for insane speed,
lesson to be learned, buy a radar detector before going over 90 on a regular basis, if the radar detector does not go off and you get pulled, the cop does not know how fast you are going, just deny everything.
i would advise bery strongly to go out and buy a radar detector. Personally I cruise at 115 everyday of the week.

there is a prepaid ticket..... pay $250 and go to the track, speed all you want.

yeah that sucks if you get pulled over... all the hassle, i only had one chance to take it to 150mph.... kinda scary on highway and will never do it again.
