confused with lower springs
hey guys, my ap1 is completely stock and i am planning to install a set of lower spring to make it look better. (if i had money i would go with coilovers)
so my concerns are :
am i still able to change my wheels to 17'' after i lower it? ( i mean, should i change the wheels and then lower it? or it doesn't matter?)
will the aftermarket springs diminish the car's handling?
which kind should i buy? i only want to lower it by 1'' (tein?)
what kind of springs are you guys using?
thank you

1, the only thing that matters here is offset. If you only plan on dropping it by an inch then try to stay higher than +45
2, Depends on what springs you decide to go with. Believe it or not, the ap1 springs are very stiff and are great for handling. You may lose some of that aggressive spring rate. Just be sure to get an alignment ASAP upon installing the new springs.
3, You should read up on what people say about the different types of springs available and go with what you feels suits your needs.
4, I personally went with the s-techs (oh way back when) and coming from a dumbed down ap2 suspension, they handled great and gave me the drop i wanted =)
Good luck and let us know what you decide on

1. Yes, you will be able to fit 17s. Springs aren't adjustable, so even if you got wheels first, you wouldn't be able to make any adjustments anyways.
2. yes, expect inferior handling
3. Swift springs have been given great feedback and is about a 1inch drop if i remember correctly.
4. I used coilovers-- but my friends used swift and tein on their s2000s

i have espelir asd. lowers almost 2 inches, handling is pretty good for just springs, but spring rate is bouncy bouncy bouncy whenever i hit a big bump.
i also suggest an immediate alignment as well since i've made that mistake before when i installed my springs ^_^;

on my first s2000 i used espelirs (and i think they are great.) with some wide 18's but my offset as lewis posted are higher than 45. (50 fronts and 61 at the rear) never had troubles...
up to this day i have espelirs on my second s2000. for me its a BIT bumpy id like to say its near stock performance.
