I've been out of the computer loop for a while.
yeah, seriously right?

I hadn't realllly studied up on hardware in years... I'd mostly been following software since my hardware was fine

And when mine died it was a complete rebuild... now I'm just giving away my old ram and cards to family members who may be able to use them, ha

it took a few months for me to finally decide on what was good and would suit my needs as well.

Yeah, really...man, I was SO into this stuff a few years back, and I have the back issues of Maximum PC to prove it! Haha!

Another place you guys might wanna hit up is SharkyExtreme.com. I always went to this site for good info, but the others mentioned here (such as Anandtech and Toms Hardware) are also VERY good sites.

For you CPU cooler, this is one of the best air coolers. It'll allow you to overclock you cpu if you so wish. If not, it'll keep it really happy temp wise

Total is a bit under $600. You can save a bit by waiting for deals on slickdeals, but it wont be that much.

This a very strong gaming system in itself, it'll be more than adequate for photo editing.
Isn't it nice to be able to pick and choice the parts you want.
