Thumbs up Clutch Question

Just curious to see roughly what mileage everyone was at when they changed out their clutch.

I went to the dealership yesterday and the tech told me that my master clutch cylinder was leaking fluid into the firewall. Says it's pretty common in ap1s. Has anyone else had this problem also?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of this happening before.

I'm at 90k miles so far on my stock clutch.

thanks for the responses. he told me most of the s2ks that go in for clutch replacements are around 35-50k miles. seems a tad low to me. i would have expected 70-80k to be the norm.

What symptoms are you experiencing? Does your clutch yield little resistance when pressing down?

I can see that happening. Previous owner probably never changed it and it is brake fluid so it attracts moister which will cause the shaft to rust which will cause the orings to wear prematurely and leak.

As for Vu I'm sure he's changed his out.

Changing out the clutch with a clutch master cylinder?

All you have to do is change out your clutch master cylinder or rebuild it.

Sounds like he's scamming you for a clutch. They are two different items that work together but don't need to be replaced together.

Your welcome
Hahahaha so no leaking fluid? Wow very confusing. If the master cylinder is not leaking fluid and holds pressure while pushed in meaning clutch pushed in, car in first. The car shouldn't start moving by itself after a minute or so then it's good.

Glad you took it to the master but why did you take it to the dum dum dealer?
