Nikon D40, D50, D70, D80 are good starters
Canon XT, XTi, 20D, 30D, 40D.
I recommand any of these DSLR for starters.

It's not the camera that makes a picture look great, it's within the eye and vision of the photogrpaher himself that captures it.
