Cindy and the road to recovery
Well, the long road to get her well is almost over. We got to SF last night so we wouldn't have to fight the traffic this morning. We have a short drive today to get to UCSF to start the transplant. We stay there for four or five days harvesting of her T cells. Then home for two weeks and then back to UCSF for a very heavy chemotherapy treatment(one dose 50 to 100 times stronger than the standard treatment). It will kill all her bone marrow and the cancer that's left, so she will not have any immune system whatsoever(just like the bubble boy). She will then get the T cells they harvested and that will kick start her bone marrow to start it making red and white blood cells. She should be back to 70% by Thanksgiving and 100% by Christmas. She also has to get all her baby shots all over again, all of them.
When she gets better we will make it to some B/A meets, we missed the super meet this year but we'll be there next year.
