CHP on my street
Hey guys, there are a billion stop signs in my new neighborhood and i did complete stops for all but one of them, and of course thats the one that had bacon sitting around the corner. He must have been camping there all day because he was out of his car and flagged me down. I just got the fine in the mail and its $300!!!
A friend of mine says that CHP does not have jurisdiction in residential areas. I have no clue what to believe, but if that is not true and i contest the ticket then i will not be eligible for traffic school. So hmm what to do what to do.
your thoughts please...

Unless your on private property CHP can issue a ticket anywhere in the state of California. If you haven't openly told the officer that you didn't do a complete stop you should try to contest it by written declaration and then if you lose you can do a trial de novo and ask for traffic school/reduced fine.

Actually depending on where you are in the state of California, the CHP can write a ticket on private property as well. I have friends that work for CHP and Hayward PD and there is a city ordinance against exhabition of speed in Hayward.
So, for instance. If someone were to do a burn out or a donut or something fun like that at the parking lot of my work (Vic Hubbards) and said police officer saw it, tehy could issue you a ticket.
So becarful where ever you are, big brother is watching.
Sucks that you go a ticket, but i've had worse happen in front of my house while I was sleeping on a Saturday morning. Ticket for no front plate... talk bout chicken shit.

Would CHP still have jurisdiction in there?
