Default CHP on The freeway with no lights

I always thought that this was illegal as it posed a dangerous situation.

CHP/Sheriff need to have their parking lights visible in order to give you a ticket. if i recall correctly, this was established in 2009. correct me if i'm wrong please!

I think you are correct. I often see cops speeding, not signaling to change lanes, parking illegally, and talking on their cell (i know their allowed to talk on their cell, but the reason its illegal for me is because the state sees it as dangerous...) just saying that you cant expect that cops will always do whats legal or safe.

The day when they actually set an example has been long gone but I think they need to work on that again.
The level if respect I have for them has diminished greatly.

some of the cops are still pretty cool, at least the loyal ones are. for those who abuse their enforcements, they need more than just a slap on the wrist..

but yea, going back to the topic of this thread. did you mean a cop actually driving on the highway without lights? or just posted up?

He was just posted up in the emergency lane on the left side of the freeway with his lights off.

I saw one on 680N right around Sunol exit the same way. Just posted completely in the dark, lights off and everything. I'm almost positive it's illegal. Though, if they're being that big of dicks than they'll just go to court and say "prove our lights were off"

They pull that stunt on 85 all the time, then stand outside the car in the darkness and hit you with LIDAR as you crest the little hills.
