Cell phone recommendation
I'm going to switch from Cingular to AT&T, and will, of course, be getting a new phone. I've narrowed it down to a couple of primary candidates, and was wondering if you guys and gals have experience with any of the following phones...
#1. Nokia 6800
I like this one because of the full keyboard, and it's also inexpensive. Downsides are that it seems kind of bulky.
#2. Samsung V206
I like the compact and sleek design of this phone. I don't particularly care for the camera, though. Btw, does anyone know what format the pictures it takes are in? Also, are the hinges on these flip phones prone to breaking?
#3. Motorola V60i
I like this one because of its small size and low price. It has the necessary features from the Samsung V206, but without the camera, which I don't really want in the first place.
If you have any of these phones, please share your experiences...other suggestions are welcome as well.
Thanks!

I have the 6800 and I love it. True it's somewhat bulky, however the keyboard makes up for it. I wish there was a plastic belt holster though so I can slap it on my IT bat belt along with my other crap.
I used to have the v60. I don't think it's that small, actually I don't think it's small at all. For it's size, it's somewhat thick, and the antenna that sticks out gets in the way and has been known to break. I also cannot deal with the menu system....

Thanks, DongTran. I'm leaning toward either the Nokia 6800 or the Samsung V206...still undecided.
Also, can anyone offer insight into AT&T's digital versus GSM coverage here in California? I've heard that digital is better than GSM here, but GSM is better nationwide. How true is that? Is there a very noticeable difference between digital and GSM here in the Bay Area?

I'm not sure you have an option; it was my understanding that ATT is only offering signups on GSM now...
Whatever the case, my 6800 is from ATT, but I have a cingular chip in it. Cingular + T-Mobile + ATT all use the same towers for GSM coverage now; figured there's got to be some reason why they chose GSM. Whatever the case, my service used to really suck back in the day like 2000/2001, but now I have absolutely no complaints...

DO NOT get GSM with ATT unless you like not having reception/service. I have the T68i....the phone and service both suck.

I have the Nokia 6610 and I'm using AT&T's GSM network. The level of coverage is getting better and eventually, AT&T will convert their entire TDMA network over to GSM.

i've an ex-cingular/gsm user.... The network in the bay area sucks. In fact while coverage area has expanded the network hasnt been built out as fast as its been oversold and subsequently service level has been getting worse for the past couple of years. I finally left cingular when nearly half of my incoming calls went to straight to voicemail or got system busy messages. I mean LITERALLY. it was horrible. others have better luck but screw it....
I'm with verizon now and can't complain at all. Their support people are even nice. I'm convinced that they must put antidepressants in their coffee or something. It's almost freaky how nice they are when you call.
The only downside is that their selection of phones licks ass. I'm a big fan of the siemens handsets and verizon doesnt use them which is lame.
I have a motorla v60 now and hate it. I'm not a fan of motorola products in general.
stick with nokia or siemens if you can.

I work for Att wireless as a manager and can say that the gsm coverage is soso. I use gsm myself and rarely have problems but half my customers love it, half my customers hate it. Gotta try it out to see if it's right for you. There is 30 days. If it doesn't work out for you, try TDMA, the older and bigger coverage area network. And just to let you know, ATT does not share their network with Cingular and TMOBILE. ATT owns it's own network. When GSM rolled out, the networks were in talks to share but ATT scratched that idea out at the last minute. For coverage, i'd go with verizon or ATT Wireless TDMA. For data, i'd go with TMobile. For rates and minutes, i'd go for Sprint.
As for phones, it's all a matter of preference but as for your choices, the Samsung V206 and Nokia 6800 are on GSM while the Motorola V60i are on TDMA.
I can hook you up on any of our phones and i have friends at verizon that can hook you up should choose them.

i have the Ericsson T616. pretty cool phone with many features: built in camera, color, etc. I am under Att wireless. service reception is pretty good. IMO, the 6800 is fairly bulky. I wanted to get it before, but after seeing it in person, i picked a smaller phone.
