Yes there is. If you get cited for a loud exhaust you can take it to a test only station which will run the appropriate SAE test. If the exhaust is under the required DB limit then you get a cert saying as such. The cert is good for one year.

If the cop pulls you over within that year and tries to cite you, you show him the cert.
I thought that the dB test was a permament certificate? Also, my buddy had to test his car and he told me they test it as 3000 RPM.

Lucky guys.

I'm contesting mine by written declaration. I'm too chicken to go to court.
Thats the best way to go at it. Don't go to court unless you have to. Let us know how the it works out.

I found out yesterday I beat a ticket for 75 mph paced by written declaration!

^ Congrats!!!!

Randy: I got a speeding ticket in August, I think, on 680 while going to work. I also got the "no front plate" ticket at that time, too.

Question - how much is the charge for no front plate? My bail amount for the ticket was $137 (or $161 if I went to traffic school). It didn't say anything about how much the fix-it portion cost. And when the cop signed it off he didn't ask for money sooo... I'm curious if the fee differs between counties or even different people?

Fix it is like a $10 processing fee. I got a ticket at the beginning of the year for having tinted windows in my accord. Just paid to get the tint removed and paid the $10 fee after cop signed off on it. Mail it in with the notice they send home and it clears.

Not sure if it's $10 for everything though..
