Carb legal setups
Hey all, been an s2k owner for going on 7 years. Been thinking about getting into the supercharger game, but would like to go carb legal. Would like to find a comptech supercharger, but not sure where to go/look to find one since they stopped making them. Anybody got any advice for how to find any comptech or other carb legal superchargers for our cars (namely an AP1)?

I may be, is it one that's listed for a 2000-2003 on the ARB list?
At the moment I'm sort of looking to see what the options are to find any of the carb legal SC kits, which I believe is just Vortech and CT/CT-e. Anyone see that CT-e's website implies they're coming back, anyone got any info on that?

Forced Induction - Rockstar Auto Garage - PH: (909) 766-0774 offers the CTS kit for the S2000 not sure if they have them in stock or not. They are listed on there site. I know Blacktracks in Fremont can and has installed them before for the S2000 you would be limited in tuning due to being CARB/Smog legal.
You might want to keep your eyes open for a carb legal used Vortech to save some money the kits new are not cheap.
Just note for it new with install it's not going to be cheap for 300ish whp
You could also just get a SOS or KW kit and do a smog hookup
But risk getting popped with a state ref ticket. I really think this just comes down to driving
If you don't drive like a dick you won't get pulled over; regardless whats under your hood.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
I've honestly been thinking more about a SOS / KW kit. My only smog concerns are a state ref ticket. I've got that sweet smog exempt county registration. Haven't been pulled over yet, and I don't think I drive like more of a dick than the average Bay Area driver.. haha.

Few things you want to do to make it more bulletproof that you can do and keep it Carb Legal
If you have an AP1 like me
You are going to want to do you oil banjo's if you have a 01 or under; they will help not run into oil starvation. Run AP2 Oil banjo's
You will have to pull your pan to do this might as well add a baffle of your choice [If you plan to track it one less thing to worry about] I have the B sport 0 metal and works perfect. It's cheap as well
Get the head ready for boost If you have Ap1 do valve retainer replacement AP1 and might as well do a value adjustment. Check to see if any are cracked 1st. I did all 16 as i wanted all new ones with a 17 year old car. There is back and fort you only have to do the intake side. I'll leave it up to you.
You are going to want to upgrade your clutch and might as well keep your AP1 flywheel and resurface it [This will depend on power goals] I like the ATC and OEM this hold up a low end supercharger you can go FX series clutch just note it has a bit of a buzz.
When the time comes for your kit that real choice is going to be what EMS are you going to go with. Find out what tuner you are going to use IE local, remote ect and go with what they can do. Or tune yourself
With most Kits they will come with the added fuel you will need ie Injectors, Fuel Pump. You can source your own or use what the kit comes with.
I have issues with the KW kit as the fuel isn't the best; as it's Grams products. If you read around the facebook KW forums are full of people with issues and bad mouthing grams. I personally like ID 1000's with a Walbro pump to fit your needs ie 250 or 450 just depending on power goals.
I would sell the grams pump and injectors and run something like this. [Find some Civic guys to run the pumps and injectors from the kit] Even LTC performance doesn't run the grams pumps. They build 100's of these setups.
Also think about running E85 this will give you more power then 91 oct here in CA but note it's less gas mile and way less stations. Again this would depend on where you live
There is a lot that goes into going boosted; it's a lot harder to do it CA; you could look into getting the car registered in another state and going nuts.
Are you super set on Supercharger word is Greedy is coming back with there carb legal turbo kit
Just note cost is going to be 6k and up after tuning with most Supercharger kits
Also look into getting proper Safety gauges in car; IE oil peruse or AFR whatever you want to run.
Note some EMS have built in Cuts and Safety add on; ensure this is setup during tuning.
I'm a fan of the SOS kit; it's pretty solid for sure and you can customize it to fit your needs. It's also one of the many kit that can be taken off and doesn't have the same type of belt issues the KW kit has.
It would find what works for you and figure out your best means to get to your end goal. This is just me every single day pricing out kits asking around and not pulling the trigger. I'm in the same boat as you.

That's a lot of info! Thanks for that. I've been doing some research, too, but I think I'm much further behind you haha. I was planning on the banjo bolts (got a MY00), and for sure the retainers and gauges. When I get some time I want to go get a compression test and leak down done to see how healthy my engine is. Got to look around for tuners, too.
I definitely don't want to rush into anything without doing research first, but I think I'm pretty set on a supercharger over turbo.
I've been looking at the SOS kits, and I'm on the fence between the piggy back stage 1 or just going all out on the stage 2. I don't have to smog ever, so my main concern is planning for the worst, e.g. getting state ref'd. So a stage 2 would be a lot of extra work to remove to pass smog than a stage 1, I believe.
