Car got keyed...

i honestly don't think its that bad to have your car keyed IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE. i get pissed off for the first hour then if u really think about it, u get a new paint job or new paint on where it got keyed, and for those 2 weeks or so u don't have to rack up miles on your car, and people drive u around, when my car got keyed and seats stolen i was pissed. then when the car came out of the shop i was even happier then i was before it got keyed, this is just my opinion though

But other than this you are right; if you have insurance, its a free paint job.

It's not a free paint job if you don't have a $0 deductible. I'd assume most people roll with $500-$1000 comprehensive coverage deductibles.
Even if it was a free paint job, your paint might not exactly match, especially since only part of your car is getting repainted. Plus, you won't have your car during the time they are fixing it.
It sucks, and I'm sorry for you, but I've been there too. If you believe in karma or some higher power, it might make you feel just a little bit better.
