I'm curious about this too. If youre running stock pads on your way to the track, the compound would already be embedded into the rotors. So if you changed to track pads without changing rotors, wouldnt this be mixing in a different compound?
I was under the impression that it isnt a good practice to mix compounds on rotors.

I was a bit worried when my stock front pads were cracked in multiple spots but I did the swap of my front pads and rotors the weekend before so not really enough time to get my rear pads in soon enough.
I also change rotors and pads.
