Boston s2k Owner CLUELESS in cali.... Help
Hey all, my wife and I are going to Phoenix and then Cali and need some help, recommendations, any data would be great.
We are spending 4 days on Phoenix, any special things to so, see, places to eat? Then taking a train from FlagStaff AZ to LA.... anyone know anything about Fragstaff? Have a full day there as the train leaves at 10pm.... or anything near Flagstaff we can drive to see or do... plan to maybe eat out and hit some bars and booze it up a bit and then sleep on the train to LA (leaves ay 10pm and get to LA at 8:20am next day)
In LA renting a car and driving the Pacific Coast HIGHWAY with overnight stops in Carmel, Santa Barbara and then end up in San Fran for a few days and nights, then a day or so in Nappa region....
any advice you can offer, things to see and do on the way, places to see or not worth seeing.... places or activities in these cities and on this trip all would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks
Steve

when you get to the napa region, for a nice but relatively inexpensive dinner, try the swiss hotel restaurant. http://www.swisshotelsonoma.com/dining.html

If you go to Napa:
Definitely go to Peju - they have the best Reds...ask for the rapping tester (trust me)
I like picnicking at V. Satui. Plus the tasting is free. The wine is really good.
If you want a great French-like restaurant, go to Yountville's Bouchon. It's owned by the chef who started the French Laundry. Go online... it's well known.
In the Bay Area:
Berkeley-
-Go to a CAL football game (Go Bears!)
-Tour Campus
-Walk Telegraph Ave.
-Eat at Chez Panice for dinner (Zagats reccomended)
-Go to Acme Breads (mmm)
-Eat lunch @ Sauls Diner (best NY diner in the West Coast)
-Tour Scharffenberger Chocolate Factory
In SF:
-Go to Golden Gate Park
-Go to the SF Moma (Museum of Modern Art)
-Shop at Union Square
-If you're here on Halloween, you can visit the Castro District...eye opening
-Go to North Beach for dinner (Steps of Rome, Stinking Rose-if you like garlic)
-Have beer and/or Spanish Toppas at Thirsty Bear.
As you can tell, I'm hungry now

When you get to SF, you have to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and get up to Battery Spencer. AMAZING view from there of the bridge.
