Hey don't laugh...Im broke $850 bucks in copay/ top replacement , $700 in PC replacement after the fire, and $1500 in hospital bills left me piss ass broke. Plus I'm still paying for 2 cars on insurance and an engagement ring. Next paycheck should prove a bit better.
Damn that sounds brutal
Hospital bills, sounds all too familiar

is there any cost for doing it yourself?

Apparently it's not a bad idea to do at 30k. It's cheap now though and could be beneficial to you. It's cheap piece of mind and a good thing to know how to do.

You could wait and pay a lot more though and not know how to do it.

if its as easy as you say it is...switch me to the last DIY table and have a gasket ordered up for me. Should make the day go by quicker.

^^here's an old DIY thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=245555

I'd say, for those mechanically inclined, that is you've may have done your own oil changes, rotated tires and/or changed out spark plugs before, I'd estimate up to 2hrs worth of work leaning over the car. The leaning over the car part of it sucks!

Yea, I've done just about everything external from the powerplant besides A/C work. Though, I have replaced the cam on my Mini before, and did the oil squirters in my AP1. Valve adjustment should be fine, just have never done it before.
