Blacktrax BW Trackday Thread AFTERMATH
#23
it was truly an awesome day.
I'm Colin, the one with the white Prelude. it was great meeting everyone! I wrote a little post for my other forums, here it is:
My friends from Blacktrax Performance hosted a track day at Buttonwillow.
I prepped and packed the Prelude Thursday evening with plans to camp out at the track for Friday's event.
I should have taken a picture of all the stuff I had in here, including an EZup canopy, camping equipment and huge cooler.
couple of 'artsy' shots that turned out pretty cool.
arrived at my friend Mike's place (he's the one that had the black s2000 that has been seen in my posts).
showed me his new motorcycle. he's planning on eventually taking it to the Philippines where he'll live with his father and explore the country for a year or two.
finally arrived at the track around 11:30pm where we setup camp and quickly fell asleep. at around 5:30am we were awoken by a crazy amount of birds chirping. it was actually a nice awakening to the start of an awesome day.
Nat holding down the driver's meeting.

I gave Mike my camera while I started my first session of the day. the event was PACKED with s2000s.
my Prelude performed wonderfully, I was quite enthused with it.
I ended up shaving 5 seconds off of my time from the last time I was at Buttonwillow back in September. ran a 2:12.61, which if you know Buttonwillow is actually quite fast. I was really happy. for timing I used the iPhone app Harry's Lap Timer which turned out to be really damn awesome. I highly recommend the app. I paired it with the Tom Tom GPS cradle and it worked very very well. the app also keeps track of other data such as Gs and acceleration.

this S had a minor runoff which resulted in ripping his back bumper off.
I finally dialed in the camera settings for good sharpness and motion blur at 1/125s shutter speed.
after the event we packed up and rolled out to Willow Ranch for dinner. it was good!
all of the hostesses were super cute girls.
my BBQ tri tip sandwich.
after dinner we stumbled upon the set of the newest Fast and the Furious movie.
headed home nursing a bad wheel bearing and got home with all 4 wheels intact. it was a great day full of great people, cars and driving.

Thanks to the folks at Blacktrax for putting this event together. I enjoyed myself a lot. We (Fresno chapter SCCA) had a small contingent of four cars out there.
It was good to get back out there and see some familiar faces (Mac, Stephen), and meet some new ones. This was my first time back at a track in over 3 years, and it's probably been 6 or 7 years since I've been to Buttonwillow. It's changed a lot since then (where did all those bumps come from? ).
I've got to get up early again for an autox tomorrow so I'll just post my photos here for now. More thoughts later. I spent this evening analyzing my video, looks like I snuck a couple 2:06s in there. Pleased with that.
