After doing countless mountain drives, my front bumper has taken a beating. For example, I've beheaded a rabbit, exploded a quail, and I've hit a bouncing rock at 60mph (Scaggs, following Chetly). Needless to say, I'm not talking about the average rock chip. With all these incidents, the paint is blown out on my front bumper. I intend to do something to minimize the damage other the coating the huge chunks of missing paint with exuberant amounts of touch up paint.
I was hoping for some ideas on a paint brand/type (Plastidip/Vinyl), and a overall plan for the bumper coverage.
Here's some ideas my friend (who's helping me with the project) photoshopped:

Repaint & clear bra. 2nd pic looks good but youre going to have to get the bodyshop to create those line - simply painting it would look weird IMO.
You can probably form those lines with a hot soldering iron & some bondo

One of my goals in this project is to spend as little as possible. When I eventually have money, my goal is to get a CR lip, and do a complete fresh repaint with clear bra.
This is intended as a fun, yet purposeful, project to make the car a bit unique, and to also prevent/protect some future wear and tear. I'm not looking for a show car finish, as that is unrealistic with my budget. Basically, my goal is to make it look "as good, or better" than it does in its current form by spending the least amount possible. I'm hoping that the maximum expense is a couple rattle cans of paint and, my favorite, blue tape.
Many of you have seen how trashed my bumper is, with dollar bill (not coin) sized huge chunks of missing paint. I've coated all these huge chunks with ridiculous amounts of touch up paint (3 bottles worth). I even have to buy larger paint brushes to accommodate the bulk paint I'm slopping on there. The paint doesn't match perfectly, but it matches better than my strangely 'silverstone colored primer' which resides underneath the yellow paint. I'm fairly happy with the touch up paint method because, at the very least, it has sealed off all the gaping cracks to prevent future paint from flying off. My silly dog has taken a liking to the taste of the paint, so that's another concern. My friend and I have been pondering a plastidip covering due to the removability and ease of the project.
