It's a 170 crank, 52x42

Component set is Shimano RX100 14 speed (2 front, 7 back)

On the front gear ring it says in on place "Shimano SG" and in another RX100
You're in luck! Going for an Ultegra is an upgrade for you. My cranks are 2.5mm longer than yours and since you are just starting (I'm assuming this), it should not make much difference. Also, my big gear has 53 teeth so your current chain maybe shorter than what is needed (we need to see). This will matter only if you are using the big front chainring with the biggest gear in the rear.

Also, I'm not sure if the RX100 bottom bracket has square tapered ends for my cranks to fit and sit at the correct distance from the bottom bracket shell. I think they will work, but I'm not sure. Can you remove the crankarm cap (with an Allen wrench) and take a picture?

I have the tools to do the swap for you. If you want the parts, PM me with your number and I will call you. If you have time, let's just look at it and go from there.

PM'd

Yeah it does have the square end before going to the threaded part of the crank.

Also, I was told to never ride with the big sprocket front, big sprocket rear (it also rubs on my front derailer when doing so..) or small sprocket front small sprocket rear ).

[QUOTE=jasonw,Aug 23 2009, 01:29 PM] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth%27s_gravity#Altitude

Gravity decreases with altitude, since greater altitude means greater distance from the Earth's centre.

Also:

[I]In usual cases, the normal force on a single tire will be the mass of the object that the tires are supporting divided by the number of wheels, plus the mass of the wheel, times the gravitational acceleration (9.81 m
