Default big sur

Greetings fellow owners

Im planning a road trip to Big Sur from LA. I heard there were some bad wild fires around that area last year and as a result some parks/campgrouds/lodges are closed.

Can you guys recommend a place to stay? Is it too cold for camping?

Thanks
john

sounds like a fun trip, your gonna be doing this in the winter?
haha, hm not sure if big sur was affected by any wild fires, might want to call them for that.
Ive been camping around the area this time of the year (nov-feb) make sure you have a nice sleeping bag, and warm dry clothes. I like camping off season too to avoid crowds as well, never been to big sur park this time of the year though.
If i remember correctly, last time i was at big sur i stayed at this place,
"Big Sur Campground & Cabins
Year-round family camping among the redwood trees along the Big Sur river. Inner tube rentals for floating on the Big Sur river. Store, laundry, playground and basketball court. Tent camping with hot showers. RV camping with water and electric hook-ups as well as a dump station. Fishing (November - February). Restaurants, gift shops, beach and trail access are all nearby. You'll find a variety of cabins, including tent cabins and A-Frame cabins. Many with fully equipped kitchens.
Tenters Welcome - Rental accommodations - Credit Cards Accepted.
AAA approved-reservations accepted-open all year. RV sites."
heres the site, http://www.bigsurcalifornia.org/camping.html

it was pretty a pretty nice campground for car camping, alot of conviences near by. well good luck planning your trip!

Ya I would love to camp. I'm just worried about rain and low temp. Also theres a female that will be with me. So maybe I'll just get a lodge or something.

I stumbled onto http://www.treebonesresort.com/whats_a_yurt.php
Wow, it would be so cool to stay in one of those. But unfortunately they are all booked

Thanks for the info theonlineguy

no problem,
yeahh a lodge, more civilzed
BUT camping is always more memorable later on, AND cheaper by far.
you would probably be okay camping just as long as you pack well, and are well prepared. try some artifical heat aids, such as heat packs for extra warmth/comfort too.

O.O that lodging looks sick, like a modern tepee (sp?) haha, high class native american housing ftw!

i have a huge craving to just take off for a little and go camping, been to busyy

Yep I've been wanting to do a road trip to big sur for awhile.
I'm getting laid off next week, so now is the time to do my travels.

I decided to book a tent cabin at Fernwood Resort.

Big Sur here I come!

That looks really fun and romantic. I'll have to try that this year.
