Bay-area S2k Tranny replacement?

Bay-area S2k Tranny replacement?
So, I drove my AP1 (2002) out from Chicago, but, around Reno, the transmission started to make a grinding noise while coasting. I had it flat-bedded to the first Honda joint that came up in google (for close to $1k).
San Francisco Honda believes that it is a failing bearing and recommends a tear-down ($3500) or new replacement (more than $8000). I'll be doing a bit of digging, but this sudden failure (at 40k miles) seems likely to have been caused by the wrong fluid being used in Chicago. I doubt that I'll ever realistically be able to recover the cost, sadly.
I figured that I'd try to find a lightly used AP2 transmission whole and get someone to do the replacement, and this is where my question for the locals comes:
Where do I get critical work like this done? In other words, what's your favorite shop in the bay area?
Thanks guys, I look forward to getting to know the S2000 community out here.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks.
I'm willing to to this to whoever does the best work. I want this to be slick-shifting and well done in the future, and I'm less worried about price than quality (to a point).
Thanks again.

I would definitely recommend Joey. He does excellent work at very very reasonable pricing. He does all the work on my car and I'm sure there are tons of people here that can vouch for him. PM ItS2Krazy.
