Bay Area Prices

Bay Area Prices
Hello everyone! I sold my S2000 years ago and am in the market for another one now because of course I am... I just moved here recently and I notice that there are a lot of them on the market with salvage titles- some that look like pieces of crap and they are still asking 12k for them...
My questions are:
1) Based on what I've searched this looks like it's a Bay Area thing.. am I correct?
2) If anyone knows of someone selling or who has recently sold a salvage title S, what did it go for/what are they selling for?
My search has been mostly over Facebook marketplace. Here's a couple of examples of what I see in the area.

Thanks everyone for your input!

High miles on the 1st one the 2ed one looks like it was not well taken care of but thats me
Salvaged S still go for pretty high price but no where near what a clean low mile sells for; the bay area is a hot spot for prices right now
it's really a sellers market.
Good luck in your search

I can relate. I moved to the Bay Area a few years ago now from the East Coast. Looking through Craiglist and FB, it seemed that a good majority of the vehicles for sale are salvaged titles which seemed very unusual. Speaking with some work colleagues and friends here, they indicated that insurance companies tend to write off cars here easier after any accident including some simple fender benders for instance as the cost of labor is much higher in California so it's not unusual to see all the salvage titled cars. So there may be a good amount of cars that may have some light impact damage or theft damage that were repaired which really no issues that still yield a salvage title. But of course with a salvage title, it would affect the resale value if that's what you care about and there's already the other spectrum of an "actual" salvage titled car which you need to be careful of. Like what others mentioned, the Bay area and California tends to hold a premium value for our cars. There are deals that pop up from time to time, but you need to act quickly (just like cheap apartments). There are also a fair amount of people who are willing to search out of state to escape the premiums if youre willing to go that route.
Good luck with the hunt!
