Bay Area MSRP (or better) Dealers

The test drive thing is kinda funny. Let me preface this by saying that this was in 1999, I was 29, and didn't look a day over 25.
Before I bought the S2000, I went into a BMW dealer and test drove a Z3 (M Roadster was not out yet). The sales woman just threw me the keys, copied my license, and off I went on my own. I came back an hour later, refreshed but unimpressed with the handling.
Then I went to the Porsche dealer at Automall. He was busy, so he hands me the keys to a black Boxster ('S' was not out yet.) Did the same thing. VERY nice ride, had a blast for about 45 minutes before I came back. Then the guy took me out in a new 911. (no way he was gunna throw me the keys there...)
Go to the Honda dealer, and they go: "Sure, for $38K you can take a test drive!!" WTF!? Of course this was in Sep 1999, and the only one they had was the FIRST one they had ever seen. Long story short, I bought the Honda without a test drive.
There is something to be said, however, about KNOWING that the car has not been wrung out before you buy it... made me wonder about the poor sap that buys the BMW or the Boxster I wrung out.

Hey folks, first post but I got mine at Central Coast. They still had 2 black and 1 yellow when I got mine. I paid $35k for it. Not bad but not MSRP

Audi is buying the TT back so it looks like we'll be in an S2000 soon. Silver/Black I'm thinking. It will be the wifes car but I'll pretty much be taking care of it, any recomendations for first mods?

Well, just to add my experience... I bought mine from Manly Honda in Santa Rosa. About an hour & half to 2 hour ride from Concord, but well worth it. I signed up for information on autoweb or one of those sites, and I started getting emails from Fred "Derf" an EXCELLENT salesman there.
After emailing and calling for the ENTIRE month of august, I finally told him to drop his mark-up and we'd talk. This was an early saturday morning (Laborday weekend) before I had my coffee. I was on my way to the dealer within 1/2 hour.
I paid just about $35,000. again, not MSRP, but pretty good. The best part was the smile on my face whle I was signing th paperwork. The owner of the dealership has a silver S that "Derf" took me on a 1 hour test drive. Up in the mountains. He used to be a race car driver and was actually coaxing me to push the car harder. "slow down a little, let these cars get a head of you, then really punch it around these turns... He even took my roommate out for a test drive before I signed!
